The free app of the Rauchfrei Telefon is designed for individuals seeking to change their smoking behavior, quit smoking, or maintain their smoke-free status. The app focuses on providing personalized support during the preparation, implementation, and maintenance of smoking cessation.

Offering a range of comprehensive, behaviorally-based therapeutic tools such as the "Smoking Protocol," "Motivation Scale," "Motivation Flash," and various checklists, the app is well-equipped to assist users. Personalized push notifications serve to inform and motivate during the transition period.

The theoretical foundation and content of the app are grounded in proven psychological models of behavior change. Additionally, years of practical consulting experience from the Rauchfrei Telefon team have significantly influenced its design. Recommendations from experts and current practice guidelines were also taken into account during development.

The integration of the app with the advisory services offered by Rauchfrei Telefon (www.rauchfrei.at) provides supplementary free individual support.

This app supports and accompanies users on their journey to becoming smoke-free. It is designed to complement personal counseling for smoking cessation and the treatment of tobacco dependence rather than replace it.

Development and Funding: The application was created in 2014 through collaboration within the Rauchfrei Telefon team, led by Sophie Meingassner (concept and content), Helmut Chlebececk (concept and programming, www.pixler.at), and studio.mishugge.com (graphic design). Funding was provided by the umbrella organization of Austrian social insurance and Rauchfrei Telefon. An update in 2019 was financed by various entities, including the umbrella organization of Austrian social insurance, the Federal Chancellery - Federal Ministry for Women, Families, and Youth, along with Rauchfrei Telefon.
